POTUS Leverage

Ultimately, the President of the United States relinquished most of his leverage when he took bypassing congress off the table by openly stating he would not invoke the 14th amendment.

Unstable Stability

I left the realm of Staples and part-time work for the the education field. I love teaching because it is fulfilling and a never-ending sequence of failure, improvement and self-awareness. The sad part about my profession is that now-more than ever, it is less stable than my days as a sales associate at Staples. Education funding is pretty crumby and seems to be going in the tanks (if you follow the political spectrum) and the thought of being unemployed often crosses my mind.

It concerns me for two reason. The financial standpoint is obvious, but I also think a well intentioned good teacher would be taken out of the classroom. I know it’s a selfish thought to have, but I often think I’m the best teacher for my students. Sometimes I think an education without me isn’t the education they deserve or the education I strive for them to have. Just some random thought after watching the unbalance debt/ceiling plan pass The House of Representatives.

Martin Luther King Junior Day

The floating holiday to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. has arrived. While most decide to celebrate his memory by listening to his speeches, attending vigils or simply enjoy their national holiday off, others work tirelessly to unravel the ideas he promoted by identifying his short comings.

I think it is important to know that Martin Luther King, Jr. was human (In case you thought otherwise).

It is important to know the historical figure in whole—Plagiarism, adultery and all, but let’s not define his legacy by his shortcomings, but by the impact he made in lives of people for generations.

Understand my failures, acknowledge my accomplishments and forgive.

Life is short.
